On Friday Brittney and I decided to make a two hour trek to a place called Sombrio Beach. It's just a little bit south of Port Renfrew and about a one hour drive past Sooke. It. Was. Amazing. I don't think I've ever been somewhere as beautiful as this place. To get to the beach you walk down a forested trail that emerges onto a gorgeous beach. It was breath taking! There were surfers in the water riding some of the bigger waves and a few families scattered along the shore. Brittney and I walked along the rocks until we couldn't walk any further. We had initially planned on hiking in the forest, but once we saw the beach we decided to just walk along, take some pictures and admire the beauty. I can't wait for more beautiful weather so there can be more adventures just like this one!

long overdue...
Why hello there! Long time no see! I know this is my excuse for everything but school really has been very busy! Midterms, papers, quizzes, assignments, there has been a lot going on.
Anyway, here are some photos I took while I was home for reading break a couple of weeks ago. I'm still learning how to use my film camera so please excuse the gnarly colouring in some of the pictures... All of these were taken on a very windy day at Crescent Beach, one of my most favourite places on earth!
Although we're a few days in to March, which should mean spring is on its way, it certainly doesn't feel like it. Two days ago snow covered the ground at home while Victoria was getting pounded with rain. Since then the rain has not let up and everything has a soggy feel to it. I am definitely ready for some clear, warm weather! Hope your week treats you well! Tomorrow is Wednesday which is halfway through the week, so basically the week is almost done!
week 3 & 4: orders
I'm a bunch of days late with this post because I've been a very busy bee! Last week I had a midterm - well a couple of midterms really, but that's a story for another day - and I also wanted to get a couple of toque orders finished. The one on the left was for a family friend's daughter as a birthday gift and the one on the right is going to one of my dad's best friends.
The weather here has been incredibly cold the past few days so it feels good knowing that I've tried to help keep people warm and cozy.
I'm on reading break for the week and so far it's been fairly busy. The past few days have been spent mostly with friends and it's been great having time to just relax and hang out without school work being the primary focus.
I hope that wherever you are, you are warm and happy and healthy!
Homemade Donuts
we made donuts!
we decided that this weekend was going to be tasty. roomie made muffins, we made apple chips together and we made donuts!
The muffins burnt a bit on the bottoms (stupid oven, we still can’t get it to cook our food properly and we’ve been living here for 4 months), the apple chips didn’t really turn out super great either but they were pretty good. The donuts, however, were DELISH! We kind of cheated tho…we didn’t make our own dough… we used safeway white dinner rolls instead! They may not be as authentic but they still tasted great!
We dipped them in oil, fried them up, drained the oil and coated them in a cinnamon/sugar mixture. They were great on the first day, nice and soft and slightly warm but by the next day they were a little harder..
Needless to say, these will be made again! I’d like to try and make a different glaze and decorate them a bit to make them even more fun!
Hope you have a great week and get to make and eat lots of yummy things!
Tea Time

Hello friends :)
How are y'all? I'm pretty good. Just been chillin, studying, writing paper after paper and seeing a few friends in between! Last weekend my friend Paige came to visit! It was great! Short, but so fun! We packed so much into a day and a half and had such a good time! Making friends is not something that comes easily to me. It takes a lot of work to work up the courage to say hello to new people and courage is not something I've had a lot of lately... So it was GREAT when our moms (who have been friends for quite some time I might add) finally introduced us!
I hope everyone is well and staying cozy & warm :)
PS the weather was chilly and a lil rainy today - hence the tea time pictures

I'm Baaaack
Why hello there :)
It's been awhile... as in three months awhile...
I could go into a long winded explanation as to why I've been absent for so long but rather than dwell on the past I am going to jump right into now and the future!
I've started back at school working towards my psych degree. Slightly different than what I had planned for in the summer but I think it's for the best. I'm living in a great apartment with lots of windows, a huge improvement from where I was last year. I'm working on making more friends but it can be tough. I've made one really great new friend who is coming to visit me next weekend for Halloween! Zoe came and visited this weekend and it was great! We had so much fun together and I can't wait for her to come back again soon!
Which is what I will be doing too. However, I want this blog to be slightly different than what it has been in the past. I read a lot of other blogs and often find myself getting jealous of their picture perfect lives. I'm 100% positive that their lives aren't perfect, that they're just sharing the great stuff but it can be harder to relate to. Some of the best blogs I read are the ones where the authors talk about the bad stuff as well as the great stuff. They don't have to go into detail but just by acknowledging that the bad stuff can be bad and life isn't always great and that they're working really hard to survive and provide makes them more relatable and enjoyable to read. So that is my aim with this. To share the good and the not so good. I don't want this to become a blog about me posting things in a self-centred my-life-is-perfect kind of way. I simply want to share what is happening in my life in a few photographs and sentences so I can look back and really remember what was going on. Not the sugar coated version, but the real life version.
SO now that I have written my longest post ever I think I'll leave it there. Hope you have a great week and I'll be seeing you again soon :)
Birthday Weekend
Today is my birthday! I am 1/5 of a century today, for those of you who need assistance, that means I'm 20! No longer a kid or a teenager. I am a full fledged adult. Apparently..
Lake Day
Yesterday a few friends and I went up to a lake about an hour and a half from where we live. The weather was supposed to be great and we'd been planning for days. Well, the weather was less than perfect but we made it work. Drinks were shared, swims were had and laughter was loud. We ended up leaving earlier than planned and head back to the beautiful weather we had left at home and spent the remainder of the day at one of the guys' pool. All in all it was a great day and really made me feel like summer is here!
